Lauren Laniece Lake (born July 12, 1969) is an American family lawyer, writer, interior designer, real estate developer, background singer, legal/life/relationship consultant, guest host, and talk show presenter.
Lake has hosted hosting and newsholder positions for various talk shows and reality law programs. In many of his hosting guests, he has handled controversial racial, ethnic, gender, and political issues directly. She is the host of the HGTV series Spice Up My Kitchen .
Lake leads as a judge over his own tabloid series/nontraditional court series, Paternity Court .

Early childhood and adult
Lake was born in Detroit, Michigan. Lake parents are portrayed as having very special expectations for their daughter's future. Lake said from his parents, "They are blacks who struggle past, one Ph.D. at a time, so they are big in education."
Growing up, Lake singing, dancing, and acting in drama. His parents agreed to allow this as long as he continued his studies. Lake attended Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and was honored as National Merit Scholar in 1986. In May 1990 Lake earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He earned a secondary teacher certification in the same year. In May 1993 Lake earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan.
In June 1995, he was accepted into the State Bar of Michigan and started his legal career as a criminal defense attorney. In June 2002, he was also admitted to the State Bar of New York and State Bar of New Jersey, where his practice was largely devoted to entertainment and family law. While involved in his legal education, he also pursued his creative desires and began professionally designing after graduating from law school.

In 1999, Lake moved to the New York City area, determined to establish himself as an entertainer. He immediately began securing the work of singing the background for multi-platinum sales artists, such as Mary J. Blige, Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, etc. Lake then began writing and recording his own music and performing throughout the New York metropolitan area. He has produced an album project and received a label record contract for the artist signed to his production company.

In To Live and Date in New York , which records the life of an independent New York singles lady, Lake was chosen from thousands of women to appear in the series. He was soon followed by a camera as he passed his lifestyle lifestyle in New York. The series developed extensive local followers, encouraging the Women's Entertainment Channel to show them nationally as "Single in the City."
He serves as a correspondent, expert, and live coach for The Greg Behrendt Show, where he helps guests navigate through dating dilemmas, career changes, and domestic disputes.
She also serves as a lawyer and relationship and life coach at The Ricki Lake Show, where for two seasons she provides advice on a myriad of social and legal issues. He also served in various other capacities on the show, including field correspondents, makeover specialists, and a judge.
She has made regular guest appearances at Dr. Phil and The View as a legal expert. Her other television appearances include The Today Show, The O'Reilly Factor, The Bill Cunningham Show, Regis & amp; Kelly, Monty Williams, and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. As regular contributor to Black Entertainment Television's Meet the Faith and My Two Cents, Lake has been involved in many intense discussions about the complex issues facing the African-American community.
He also pursued his interior decoration interest in the entertainment industry: He has participated in TLC events such as While You Were Out and Trading Spaces . Furthermore, from May 2007 to 2009, Lake hosted 47 episodes of HGTV's hit how-to show Spice Up My Kitchen . In this forum, he specializes in turning an ordinary kitchen into a stylish kitchen.

He believes his lack of training experience allows him to think outside the box and express himself without rules or restrictions. Lake wrote his first book, Girls Let me Tell You..., published in 2009. In the book, Lake answers questions about life and love, posed by successful women. This book covers everything from men, dates, and relationships to hope, feelings of loneliness, and the pursuit of dreams.

After witnessing Lake advocacy dynamically for Hurricane Katrina victims, comedians and activists.
