Leslie Rutledge (born June 9, 1976) is an American lawyer and politician from the US State of Arkansas. A Republican, he is the current Attorney General of Arkansas, a position he has held since January 13, 2015.

Early life and career
Originally from Batesville in Independence County, Arkansas, Rutledge is a graduate of Southside High School, University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and William H. Bowen Law School at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He started his legal career as a clerk to Court of Appeals Judge Arkansas Josephine Hart, since the association of Supreme Court judges Arkansas. He was appointed deputy advisor to Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and later served as Legal Counsel for Huckabee's 2008 presidential campaign. He has also become deputy prosecutor in Lonoke County and in subsequent ministry as a lawyer for the Arkansas State Family and Family Services Division. He served as deputy advisor to the Republican National Congress Campaign Committee before he was appointed advisor to the Republican National Committee. Prior to being elected as the attorney general, Rutledge established and enforced the law at The Rutledge Firm, PLLC.

Attorney General Arkansas
Rutledge sought Republican nomination for Attorney General Arkansas in the 2014 election. He faced fellow lawyers Patricia Nation and David Sterling. Rutledge finished with plurality in the primary but finished with less than 50 percent of the vote. He then faces second-place prosecution David Sterling in the second round of elections. The Nation authorized Rutledge, and he defeated Sterling.
In September 2014, County Clerk Larry Crane of Pulaski County canceled Rutledge's voter registration when he discovered that Rutledge had been registered to vote in Washington, D.C. He re-registered in Pulaski County.

Rutledge defeated Democratic Party nominee Nate Steel, a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, and Libertarian Party candidate Aaron Cash, in an election. He is the first Republic and the woman has so far been elected as Attorney General of Arkansas.
In 2016, Rutledge declared that he would appeal against a ruling in favor of the LGBT anti-discrimination laws enacted in Fayetteville, Arkansas, which is contrary to state laws that prohibit these ordinances.
In July 2017, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton led a group of Republic Attorney General from nine other states, including Rutledge, plus Governor Idaho Butch Otter, threatening Donald J. Trump's administration that they would sue if the president did not stop Action for Childhood Arrivals Action which has been imposed by President Barack Obama. Tennessee Attorney General, Herbert H. Slatery, III, then reversed his position and withdrew his participation from the lawsuit filed on 31 August. Slatery went so far as to push for part of the DREAM Act. Other attorneys who joined in making threats against Trump include Steve Marshall of Alabama, Lawrence Wasden of Idaho, Derek Schmidt of Kansas, Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Doug Peterson of Nebraska, Alan Wilson of South Carolina, and Patrick Morrisey of West Virginia.
In June 2017, Rutledge again rejected the proposed state constitutional amendment to legalize casino gambling in the state. He rejected a proposal by Barry Emigh from Hot Springs, writing that the popular names and titles of the proposed ballots were "misleading and entirely imperfect."
Personal life
Rutledge met with Boyce Johnson, a farmer from Marion in Crittenden County in eastern Arkansas, at a convention for the Federation of American Agricultural Bureaus. The couple married in December 2015. On April 3, 2018, Rutledge announced via Twitter that she and Johnson were expecting their first child.
