Nicholas Allan Roy Wilson, Lord Wilson of Culworth The PC (born May 9, 1945) is a British judge. On May 26, 2011, he became a Judge in the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, having previously served as God's Judge of Appeal since 2005. Lord Wilson has specialized in family law throughout his career. In December 2016, as one of 11 Supreme Court Justices, Lord Wilson heard the request of Government R (Miller) v Secretary of State to Exit the European Union (Article 50) on the use of prerogatives to begin the process of leaving the EU after a referendum on June 23 2016.
Lord Wilson's father was Roderick Peter Garrett Wilson (1913-1994), a former naval officer, who taught language at Dartmouth Naval College after resigning from his post because of illness. In 1942, Peter married Anne Dorothy Anne Chenevix Trench (b 30 August 1916 in India), the daughter of an officer at the Royal Engineers. As her husband's health continued to decline, Anne studied at Trinity College of Music, qualified to teach piano, to earn an income. The Wilsons family lived in Fittleworth, Sussex for years, purchasing Three Chimneys in the village in 1958.
His father's grandfather was Sir Roderick Roy Wilson (born August 10, 1876 - died August 27, 1942), a banker and politician who was a Conservative MP for Lichfield (October 29, 1924 to May 1929). He became a knight in 1929 and Chairman of the British Guiana Parliamentary Commission, 1926.
Lord Wilson was educated at Bryanston School, Dorset and Worcester College, Oxford. He was summoned to the Bar in 1967 (Inner Temple), and became Queen Advisor in 1987. He was appointed Recorder in the same year. In 1993, he became a butcher and was appointed to the High Court, sitting in the Family Division, where he was appointed a knight bachelor. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2005, at which point he was also appointed to the Advisory Board. On May 26, 2011, he joined the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, replacing Mr. Saville from Newdigate
With Royal Warrants, all members of the Supreme Court, even if they do not have noble titles, are entitled to the judicial style and the title of "God" to life.. Wilson is given the Lord Wilson of Culworth's courtesy style, referring Culworth, Northamptonshire.
Lord Wilson married Margaret Higgins, daughter of Reginald Francis Higgins, in 1974. After reading the law at Oxford (MA 1966), Lady Wilson was summoned to Bar in July 1966 by the Central Temple; admitted to Inner Temple in 1968 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law. He worked at 3 Hare Court, London from 1967 to 1986 and ceased to practice in 1987. For twenty years he was the chief judge of the lease assessment in London, and the last was a Judge of his First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) he retired in April 2015 and became a mediator at Canfield Chambers
Lord and Lady Wilson has two children, Matthew Roderick Benjamin Wilson, born in 1977, and Camilla Jessica Wilson, born in 1981. Matthew attended Eton College where he edited the Eton Chronicle. Lord Wilson has told the story of asking his client, Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, to help him and give Matthew an interview. "My son Matthew once was the editor of the Eton Chronicle, and I said I really like you, Bill, would you please prepare my son to interview you on behalf of the Eton Chronicle - he said yes, come next week So Matthew came down and came back that night - I asked him how it went and he said well - I said "let's listen, come on" - and nothing has been taken! And then I call Bill Wyman who says no do not worry, let him down tomorrow and we'll do it again - is not that beautiful? ".
He has been the successful owner of obstacles and steep, most trained by John Upson at Maidford in Northamptonshire. Winners in Lord Wilson colors include Nick The Beak, Young Radical and Gritti Palace. One of the best horses trained by Upson is Nick The Brief, winner of 11 races, including Hennessy Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown in 1990 and 1991 and Peter Marsh Handicap Chase at Haydock Park in 1990 On 2 Feb 1991, Nick The Brief narrow. Beaten by the Great Desert Orchid in a remarkable duel on the Sandown Park hill in Chapel Handicap Chase Agfa Diamond. In the 2016/17 season, Lord Wilson's colors have been carried by Issac Warriors, trained at Maidford by Tracey Leeson, and point winners to point at Ballybunion in 2012
