Even after Fox News's Twitter account has removed tweets on comments outside of Tapper's context, Sean Hannity repeated the comment out of context to viewers, calling Tapper "fake CNN counterfeit news of Jake Tapper" and ridiculing his judgment.

Hannity sparked controversy in April 2018 when it was revealed that she shared her lawyer, Michael Cohen, with President Trump. In violation of journalistic ethics, Hannity has failed to disclose that Cohen is his lawyer while at the same time picking up Fox waves to defend Cohen and criticizing those who investigate him.
On April 9, 2018, a federal agent from the US Attorney's Office served a search warrant at the office and residence of Michael Cohen, Trump's personal attorney. In the air, Hannity defends Cohen and criticizes federal action, calling it "highly questionable" and "unprecedented power abuse". On April 16, 2018 in court, Cohen's lawyers told the judge that Cohen had ten clients in 2017-2018 but performing "traditional legal duties" for only three: Trump, Elliott Broidy, and "prominent people" who do not want to be named for fear "shame". The federal judge ordered the disclosure of a third client, called Cohen's lawyer as Hannity. Although Hannity has covered Cohen on his show, he did not disclose that he had consulted with Cohen.
Fox News released a statement on April 16, 2018 attributed to Hannity: "Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter, I have never held him down, received invoices or paid legal fees I sometimes have a brief discussion with him about questions laws about what I want input and perspective I assume the conversation is confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involve any issues between me and a third party. "Also, NBC News quoted Hannity as saying:" We really has a lawyer-client privilege because I asked him for it ", while Hannity said on her radio show that she" may have handed over 10 dollars "for the attorney-client privilege. Lastly, Hannity tweeted that his discussion with Cohen was "almost exclusively" about real estate.
The next day, news reports revealed that Hannity had shared another lawyer with Trump, Jay Sekulow. Sekulow has written a stop-and-drop letter to KFAQ on behalf of Hannity in May 2017, and then represents Trump in connection with Mueller's investigation.
