Divorce: Not Between Husband and Wife (aka Meri Bhi Suno or Divorce ) is the Hindi Indian 2005 film drama socially directed by MJ Ramanan as her first feature project, starring Jackie Shroff, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Rajendranath Zutshi. The film went into postproduction in December 2004, and has released limited theater in 2005 to qualify for the National Film Awards, The film is awaiting a wider theatrical release.

The director of Ramanan denied that the film was inspired by Masela, Akele Hum Akele Tum and Rahul, another project that reflected the emotions of an abandoned child, stating that his only inspiration came after reading a US newspaper report about a young man seeking legal divorce from his parents on the basis of negligence. The film was taken between 9 February - 12 March 2004, and submitted for consideration to the 52nd National Film Awards.

Synopsis

An 8-year-old boy, Pranav (Parth Dave), is the only son of a wealthy couple Sidharth (Sonu Sood) and Renuka (Mandira Bedi). Sidharth works for Multinational Enterprises as an officer whose job requires many trips. On the one hand, Sidharth is also obsessed with his work and, therefore, can not give time to his children and his wife. Renuka, on the other hand, is a highly skilled and dedicated Media Correspondent who works for private channels. She also faces the same problem of giving her and her husband time. They are running with professional goals that are mechanized like other conventional humans in contemporary times.

The end result is Pranav misses his parents and becomes the victim of the suppressed emotion. Meanwhile, Pranav gained the friendship of his neighbor, Jackie (Jackie Shroff), a loner. An advocate of the profession, Jackie is also a hardcore alcoholic with a very cold and unusual attitude towards life. The intimacy that grew between them both created insecurity in the minds of Sidharth and Renuka, who tried various ways to deviate Pranav, but their efforts made Pranav closer to Jackie. During one of Jackie's trial sessions, Pranav accompanies Jackie to watch the show. His case of divorce between husband and wife. Pranav asked the meaning of the word "divorce," and Jackie explained that it was the separation between two people who did not like each other. For the first time, Pranav asks if he can get divorced from his parents because he does not like them.

Although Pranav did not mean what he said, Jackie was shocked and convinced Pranav to oppose him. In another incident that followed, Shyam (Rajendranath Zutshi), a drug addict and a resident of the apartment building where Pranav lived, committed suicide over a failed relationship. Pranav understands from a depressed old man that suicide is "freedom from all worries." These incidents create an indelible mark in Pranav's mind, which then threatens Jackie that he will commit suicide if he is not divorced from his parents. Jackie conveys seriousness to her parents. Sidharth and Renuka's plans come home early, but they still have not solved the real problem of Pranav, who wants to share much with his parents. But as a result of professional demands, Sidharth and Renuka begin to quarrel with each other for not sticking to their plans.

Now Pranav decides to campaign for divorce wholeheartedly. Jackie can not convince Pranav this time and agrees to raise the case on behalf of Pranav to give a farewell. As a result, the Judge (Reema Lagoo) instructed the government to draft a new criminal law to deal with cases in which the child itself may file a complaint against his parents. New criminal codes were made, and the final judgment by the Judge became the climax of the film.
